We found a tree that was a small seedling in 1910, the year Glacier National Park was establised, and created this stunning image of its annual rings.  Each of the 100   annual rings represents one year of the tree's life.  This tree was harvested from a mountain forest in western Montana. The same extreme weather years (droughts, floods, etc) that shaped the vegetation in Glacier National Park can be seen in the rings from this Montana tree.
